The Carrier assembly of our range hood cabinets have been carefully designed to accept a wide range of Liners, Blowers and Inserts.  Additional mounting features for some types of vent systems may be required depending on the components selected for your installation.  Use the mounting dimension information below to confirm compatibility and contact us if you require additional assistance or a custom hood to use with your vent system.

All our vent hood cabinet models can accommodate up to 8” diameter ducting and a wide range of vent inserts.  Be aware that several of our vent hood cabinets have a relatively small opening at the top of the carrier and may require that ducting be located in very specific locations.  All our vent hood cabinets have provisions for ducting to exit the rear of the cabinet as some installations may require.

Mounting your new Alpha Woodworks Range Hood Cabinet has never been easier.  We’ve added vertical centerline reference notches in the back panel of the carrier and several machined slots to allow much easier fastening to pre-marked wall studs.  It is recommended that any range hood cabinet be carefully installed using several high-quality lag screws of sufficient length to penetrate at least halfway into wall studs.  Predrilling appropriate diameter pilot holes for fasteners is recommended.  Use caution where electrical wires or plumbing may exist in the wall your range hood cabinet is to be installed on.   Range Hood Cabinet must be fastened to wall studs!  Due to the weight and potential vibration when in use, all our range hood cabinets must be mounted securely to wall studs.  Do not fasten to drywall only!  In most applications, the canopy will not require permanent fastening to the carrier; if your installation site is in an area prone to earthquakes, we recommend attaching the canopy to the carrier with several screws to reduce the possibility of it moving or falling during an earthquake.

For most 9’ ceiling height installations, the carrier should be mounted 1/8” to 1/4” below the ceiling to allow the canopy to easily slide onto the carrier.  If your installation will not use crown molding or other trim against the ceiling, mount the carrier as little as 1/16” from the ceiling and finish any gap between the Hood Cabinet and ceiling with a high-quality tinted caulk.

The Alpha Woodworks Range Hood cabinets are constructed from Stain Grade Maple Veneer Plywood or Paint Grade MDF.  All carrier assemblies are built from Birch Plywood and may require the bottom edges to be finished prior to installation, depending on the vent system you are using.

When selecting one of our Range Hood Cabinets with stain grade veneer construction, be aware that these products are made from natural materials and may vary in grain and color and may have some surface imperfections.

Panels maintain grain direction throughout the assembled cabinet; typically, vertical.   We do not currently offer our range hood cabinets with customer-specified grain directions on individual panels.
